David T. Linkenhoker
ANSTED — David T. Linkenhoker (Mr. Link), 54, of Ansted, passed away December 5, 2009, at his residence following a brief illness.
David was born November 19, 1955, in Ansted and was a son of the late Calvin Howard. Sr. and Rose Kyle Burruss Linkenhoker.
He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Kathy Linkenhoker.
David was a beloved youngest brother, uncle, great-uncle, best friend, gatekeeper, the “glue” and the “heart” of the family,
He earned a master’s degree in education; he was a graduate of Ansted High School, W.Va. Institute of Technology and Marshall University Graduate College. In 1989 he was named national future business teacher of the year; most recently he taught at Greenbrier West High School as a business teacher and yearbook advisor, affectionately known as “Mr. Link”; he also taught business in Western Greenbrier Middle School, and special education in Fayetteville Middle School. He was previously employed by Fayette Co. DHHR. David was very active in his community; he was a member of the AIM committee, worked at the Heritage Festival & Country Road Festival in Ansted. He was a veteran of the United States Army from 1982 to 1986 serving his time in Turkey. He was a member of Gum Spring Baptist Church of Chimney Corner.
Survivors are his companion and best friend, Peggy Gray of Victor, and her daughters, Heidi and Megan; a sister, Marilyn Ann and Dick Darrah of Ware, Massachusetts; brothers and sisters-in-law, Calvin and Ann Linkenhoker of Fitzwilliam, N.H., Jim and Georgia Linkenhoker of Ansted, Joe and Connie Linkenhoker of Gauley Bridge, William and Crysty Linkenhoker of Hico and Robert Linkenhoker of Fayetteville; a sister-in-law, Mary Linkenhoker of Monson, Massachusetts; Stepmother, Pauline Linkenhoker of Ansted; aunts, Betty McVey, Margie Linkenhoker, Webber Copley, and Marjorie Linkenhoker; a special uncle to Sherri, Tim, Matthew, Amy Jo, Linda, Andy, Brad, Amanda and Michael; a very special great-uncle to Ethan, Olivia, Eli, Joseph, Mia, Allyson, A.J., Hunter, Sydney, Ashlyn, Ashton and Logan; special care givers, Robin Monosmith and Marianne Whipkey.
